=================================================================================================== NMP-2004-3.4.1.1-1 - Towards “converging” technologies Probably the most significant advances in science and nanotechnological applications are expected to be realised by crossing the boundaries (“converging”) between previously separated scientific and engineering disciplines, including also the social, cognitive and neuro-sciences. This approach has the potential to offer new solutions to improve the quality of life e.g. by helping to alleviate the effect of disabilities or creating new types of nanotransducers. The expected STREPs will consist of research at the frontiers of knowledge addressing nanoscience approaches together with biotechnologies and information technologies jointly with social, cognitive and/or neurosciences. Additional expertise from other disciplines can be integrated if appropriate. Topics related to security are excluded here. |
